Quick Story
A few months ago, I was trying to grow this tiny YouTube channel I started for reviewing AI tools.
Problem was — I hated editing videos.
I had two clips up. Both were awkward. Both had less than 50 views.
Total crickets.
It felt like every hour I spent recording, trimming, uploading — just vanished into the void.
One night, kind of burnt out, I decided to test something totally different.
A little trick I had been thinking about but never really tried.
Instead of creating more content, I built a simple resource — a guide packed with underrated AI tools that help freelancers automate time-wasting tasks. Wrote it in under an hour using ChatGPT.
Added a few links. Clean. Helpful. No fluff.
I put it in the right spot. Didn’t think much of it. Closed my laptop and went to bed.
Next morning?
A few clicks. A few new email subs.
Then I saw it — $47 in commissions. From one of the tools inside the guide.
That day, I made my first $47 commission.
And that’s when it clicked.
No videos. No gear. No awkward talking-head content. Just value, placed smartly.
I doubled down.
Kept refining the angle. Kept building better guides. Kept using the same placement strategy.
Within a few weeks, it wasn’t just $47 here and there.
It was $118. Then $219. Then $364. All in a single day.
What started as a dead YouTube channel turned into a quiet income machine — powered by something most people never notice.
And to this day?
Still no videos. Still no editing. Just one weird trick that worked.
What Is It?
This method taps into YouTube’s Secret Hack, allowing creators to build traffic and email lists without uploading a single video. It’s perfect for niches like AI tools, freelancing, budgeting, and passive income, where simple tips and resources can go viral organically.
Why It Works
Most creators overlook this — but any YouTube channel with 0 subscribers gets access to it. You can engage an audience and direct them to a free lead magnet (like a PDF guide). From there, you can automate affiliate sales via email.
This means:
● No videos
● No editing
● No face
● No paid ads
● No buying Channels
● No adding links on other’s videos
Yet real creators are earning $200–$500/day from affiliate programs like Jasper, Systeme.io, KoalaWriter, and niche SaaS tools.
This method taps into YouTube’s Community Tab, allowing creators to build traffic and email lists without uploading a single video.
Step 1: I Picked a Niche That Made Affiliate Sense
First, I looked at what types of affiliate products actually pay decent commissions. For me, that meant digital tools—things like AI writing apps, productivity platforms, freelancer software, and online education tools.
These usually pay 20–50% per referral and tend to have solid demand. I didn’t want to rely on physical products or $1 commissions.
I set up a fresh YouTube channel (though you could totally use an old one). Then I added a niche-specific name, a simple banner I made in Canva, and filled out the “About” section with one clear focus: tools and tactics for digital freelancers.
No videos. Just a channel shell to host content via the Community Tab.
Step 2: I Created a Simple PDF Lead Magnet with ChatGPT
Next, I opened ChatGPT and asked it to help me outline a short, useful guide—something like “5 AI Tools That Save Freelancers Hours Every Week.”
I kept it practical and relevant to my niche. Just 3–5 pages in Google Docs, with short tool breakdowns, use cases, and links to try them out.
Then I used Canva to give it a cleaner layout and exported it as a PDF.
To host it, I used a free Gumroad account. You can also use ConvertKit or MailerLite if you want to build an email list directly.
The guide is free, but it includes affiliate links to each of the tools I recommend. It’s basically a curated resource I can send people to again and again.
Step 3: I Built a Simple Email Sequence
If someone downloaded the guide, I wanted to follow up without being spammy.
So I built a short email sequence using MailerLite and had ChatGPT help me write the copy.
-
Day 1: Deliver the guide
-
Day 2: Walk through one of the tools in more detail
-
Day 3: Share a personal productivity tip
-
Day 4–5: Show how I use these tools in my own projects
-
Day 6: Invite them to grab a bonus or upgrade (again, with affiliate links)
This isn’t a high-pressure funnel. It’s just a lightweight, automated way to keep providing value and gently nudge readers toward the tools I like (and earn from).
Step 4: I Started Posting on the Community Tab
Here’s the surprising part: I didn’t upload a single video.
Instead, I used the Community Tab to post little snippets—text posts, polls, quick insights, or screenshots of tools.
Example posts:
-
“I used to spend 2 hours writing proposals… until I found this tool that does it in 5 minutes.”
-
Poll: “Would you pay $12/mo to save 4 hours/week on client emails?”
-
Quick summary of a tool, with a CTA like:
“I listed all my favorite time-saving AI tools in a free guide. You can grab it here → [link]”
These aren’t viral posts. But they’re low-effort and they show up in subscribers’ feeds. As your sub count grows, your reach grows too—without videos.
The best part?
YouTube Community Tab posts can show up for non-subscribers, especially once your channel gains some momentum.
Here’s how it works:
Who Sees Community Posts:
-
Subscribers will definitely see them in their YouTube home feed, subscriptions feed, and sometimes in notifications (if they’ve opted in).
-
Non-subscribers can see them too, especially if:
-
The post is getting engagement (likes, comments, votes on polls).
-
The viewer has recently watched related videos in your niche.
-
YouTube’s algorithm sees it as a “relevant” post for their interests.
-
Real Example:
If you’ve ever scrolled YouTube’s homepage or mobile app and seen a poll, text post, or image from a channel you don’t follow, that’s a Community post being pushed to non-subscribers.
Strategy Tip:
The more engagement you get (especially early), the more likely your post spreads beyond your own audience. That’s why polls work well — they’re frictionless, and people love to vote.
Step 5: I Focused on Organic Growth First
Getting those first subscribers was the trickiest part.
What worked for me:
-
Commenting regularly (and genuinely) on other videos in my niche
-
Embedding my Community posts in Reddit discussions or Twitter replies
-
Running “Would You Use This?” style polls to drive engagement
Once I crossed the 500-subscriber mark, something clicked. I started seeing 1,000–3,000 views per Community post—without uploading a single video.
Some posts got bookmarked. Some led to email signups. Over time, I could trace back affiliate clicks and sales to individual posts. It added up.
Realistic Earning Potential
I don’t make crazy numbers.
But some of these tools offer commissions like:
-
Jasper.ai – $20–$100+ per signup
-
Koala Writer – 30% recurring
-
Copy.ai – tiered affiliate bonuses
-
Canva Pro – $36 per sale
-
Teachable – 30% recurring
If you get just 5–10 new email signups per day, and a small percentage of them click through and try a tool… the numbers can work.
It’s not “get rich overnight,” but this is a legit, low-effort funnel that can earn $300-500/day if you stay consistent.
And again—no editing, no gear, no face on camera.
Just smart systems, content ChatGPT helped write, and a platform that most people overlook.
